Copper (II) sulfate is a compound with the chemical formula CuSO4.5H2O
This salt is in the form of a compound with and without water in the molecule. In the casewhere there is no water in the molecule, it will appear white-gray. If there is water in themolecule (hydrated form, CuSO4.5H2O), it will be blue.
Copper sulfate is a copper compound, which the ancient Egyptians used as a dye. It is stillused today. It is also used in the plating industry. In the fishery, copper sulfate is used toprevent algae and algae in water sources. The toxicity of copper compounds is not as severeas lead and mercury compounds. However, caution must be exercised when using it to avoid contact with the skin or breathing in the dust.
